Han Smith is a queer writer, translator and adult literacy educator. She translates from German, Italian and occasionally Russian, with recent publications in New Books in German and Asymptote. Han’s own debut novel, Portraits, was published by John Murray Originals in 2024 and shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize. She received a London Writers Award in 2019/2020 and previous work has been shortlisted/longlisted for a range of prizes.
