Meral Şimşek

Meral Şimşek is a Kurdish writer and poet. Legal pressures in Turkey, tied to her published work and the recognition it received, led her to leave the country. She has lived in exile in Germany since 2022. Her poems and stories often center on women’s lives and the realities of Kurdistan. Her writing has been translated into German, English and French, reaching a wider international audience.
